I personally don't like bugs of any kind. My kids ages 8 and 10 just love them and finding out and learning about them. If your kids are like mine and love them and learning you should check out The Real Bug Kit is very awesome though.
It's inside the BIG green beetle, it has 3 real bug specimens hidden inside. No worries these bugs are not alive and can't hurt you or your kids. It's all very safe!! They're buried inside the digging block and are preserved inside of acrylic and this enables your kids to completely examine them all the way throughly and see every detail possible from all sides.
This science kit includes a digging tool, brush, and magnifying glass. I'm thrilled that it provides you an information booklet and activity booklet. These keep the kids busy even after the fun of digging and finding the bugs are all over and done with. It's really educational and fun for kids of all ages really. I even enjoyed looking at the bugs through the magnifying glass. They are so neat - since they can't hurt me haha!
The digging itself took both my kids a good twenty to thirty minutes. It was two of them working together nicely. I will say time may vary.
